The Present Progressive Passive Voice

1.     Look at the following sentences, paying attention to the underlined part.

Mary is being interviewed now.

Tom’s car is being repaired now.

The disease is being studied at present by scientists.

The life of the panda is being studied at present.

2.The structure:

A 陈述句：

主语+ am/is/are +being+过去分词

它的否定形式是把not放在第一个助动词之后,即am/is/are＋not＋being＋过去分词。

B 疑问句：

一般疑问句的形式：把第一个be动词放到句首，句末改为问号，即Am/Is/Are＋主语＋being＋过去分词？

特殊疑问句的形式: 疑问词+ am/is/are+being+过去分词？

    What is being done on the new medicine？

How many bridges are being built in the village?

3．The usage:

表示说话人说话时或现阶段正在进行的动作, 经常和时间副词now (现在), right now (现在, 此刻), at present (现在,目前), at this moment (此刻) 连用。

少数及物动词的进行时表示按计划、安排将要承受某个动作。

    Some rock music is being played by them next.

    下面将由他们演奏一些摇滚音乐。

    A party is being held tonight.

    今晚将要举办一场晚会。

4.Practice:

1) Pick out all the sentences in the present progreesive passive voice from the reading passage and translate them into Chinese.

2) Do the exercises on Page29 & Page64.
